Let Them Eat Art is Maplewood’s whimsical tribute to Bastille Day held each year the second Friday evening of July. The event features live art demonstrations by regional artists, live music, and food & drink by Maplewood’s award-winning food purveyors. Let Them Eat Art is not an art fair; it’s a celebration of making art and enjoying art in the shops and on the streets of Historic Downtown Maplewood. Soiree for Strays is an all-media art exhibit and fundraising gala to benefit Gateway Pet Guardians. The Soiree for Strays art show is a festive vehicle for local artists to express themselves through animal themes, raise awareness about animal issues and spotlight the special relationship between people and their pets.It is also a way for the St. Louis community to enjoy an evening of inspiring, animal-related art, live music by the well-known and amazingly talented Teddy McCready and a delightful array of refreshments while raising money for a respected local charity. My latest painting project focused on “Pairs.” I often find that my paintings that are completed around the same time share a similar look or feel – so I thought I would take that one step further, and intentionally paint matching paintings on my 6 x 6″ gallery wrapped canvases. Collectors Choice is a beloved annual event for local art collectors. With the purchase of one ticket, two people may attend two parties and acquire one piece of original artwork.
All donating artists are invited to bring a guest to the Opening Party on October 23 at 6:00 pm for artists and ticket holders. This first event celebrates Collectors Choice XIV and gives ticket holders an opportunity to meet the artists and view the galleries filled with exciting artworks. The Selection Party will be held on November 7. This is the date when ticket holder names are called and artworks are chosen. GroveFest is an outrageously eclectic street festival in the Grove, a vibrant commercial district here in St. Louis located along Manchester between Kingshighway and Vandeventer. Festivities include a street party at Side Project Cellar, 7373 Marietta with special beers on tap. Enjoy a Spillover Party down at Sutton Loop Park, two blocks south of Manchester, for food & drink specials by Maplewood’s fine food purveyors, activities, music.
Along Sutton you will find Maya Café offering cool drinks, hot eats, live music, and art by Andi Kozak aka Sassiandi. Live Jazz and Blues by Race Simmons and Conner Low followed by Delta Blues with Old Man Boo. All of this fun and much more from 1 PM to 4 PM.
Just next door to Maya Café, we also welcome the Drama Club STL with their Grand Opening within The Focal Point at 2720 Sutton. FACE Painting, Puppet making, Free Classes, Free Doughnuts, and Balloons to give away. Plus class on this Saturday is for the whole family, they can all stay and play. Their festivities are from 8 AM to 3 PM.

The St. Louis Artists’ Guild is moving to a new home! They will be located at 7447 Forsyth(still in Clayton) with approximately 5,600 square feet of gallery space in Washington University’s West Campus building. Our new facility will be located in a portion of the former Ivey-Selkirk Auction House and if you remember, it is the old Famous Barr building. MOVE! will be the first exhibit at our new location and is an all-media juried exhibition. We are interested in work that explores change and movement between spaces, real or imagined.

I participated in a call to artists from all over the world. We were invited to participate in an International Mail-Art-Project with the subject TURQUOISE. Animals have always been a source of inspiration and creativity. The Soiree for Strays Charity Gala and Art Show celebrates the loving bond between animals and humans while raising awareness about animal welfare issues and giving attendees an intimate look into the lives of those who have lived on the streets and survived against all odds. Stories of love and tales of hope will be told through the eyes of many local artists.

Calling all fans of Tiffany’s Diner! I was commissioned to paint the “tiny as a phone booth” restroom at the famous Tiffany’s Diner, as an old English phone booth. A very fun project! Swing by and visit the historic Route 66 gem!
